Newcastle United have made a £22 million move to sign Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United, according to reports in Paraguay.
It is claimed by El Intransigente, as translated by Sport Witness, that the Magpies have submitted a formal offer as they look to accelerate their pursuit of the playmaker.
Almiron has been courted by a host of Premier League clubs but Newcastle have been heavily linked in recent times, with Rafa Benitez keen to add to his current crop of attacking options.

The attacking midfielder was instrumental for Atlanta as they secured MLS Cup glory with a win over Portland Timbers last weekend. He chipped in with 13 goals as the team enjoyed success in the recent campaign.
However, with the January transfer window fast approaching, it seems Newcastle are out to recruit Almiron and hand him the chance to shine in England.
If Atlanta do opt to accept this apparent proposal from the Magpies, the 24-year-old will become the most expensive ever footballer from Paraguay.
