Leeds approach Newcastle over Woodman deal

Championship high-flyers Leeds United have reportedly approached Newcastle over a potential deal to sign Freddie Woodman in January.

Chronicle Live reports that Marcelo Bielsa’s men have targetted the England youth international after suffering an injury crisis between the sticks.

Both senior goalkeepers Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Jamal Blackman, who is on loan from Chelsea, are suffering from respective injuries.

Woodman has been heavily linked with moves away from Newcastle for some time as he sets his sights on first-team football.

The promising youngster has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, but Leeds would be able to offer the player first-team football as they continue their push to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Newcastle have been keen to keep hold of the player, but with first-team football at St James’ Park looking unlikely anytime soon, they may well struggle to convince him into sticking around for that opportunity.
