Newcastle made it three wins out of three in the Premier League as they defeated Burnley 2-1 at Turk Moor.
A Ben Mee own goal and a Ciaran Clark header put the visitors 2-0 up, before Sam Vokes’ excellent header got the home side back in the game.
Both sides had excellent chances to score in the second half but nobody found the back of the net and as such, the Magpies will leave Lancashire with all three points.
Here’s how we rated the Newcastle players in the game.
Martin Dubravka - 7
Will be slightly disappointed to be seated by a header from so far out. Made a few excellent reaction saves and his distribution was top class too.
Fabian Schar - 8
Was more than up for the physical challenge, and got a whack in the face to prove it! He defended excellently and was calm in possession too.
Federico Fernandez - 9
His shot was deflected into the Burnley goal by Ben Mee. Like Schar, Fernandez was a match for Burnley’s physicality and he looked neat and tidy in possession
Ciaran Clark - 9
Captained the side and put in a captain’s performance. Not only did he make a number of crucial clearances, his header to make it 2-0 was so well timed. A great return to the team for Clark
DeAndre Yedlin - 6
Played as a wing-back and was up and down the right-flank all game.
Ki Sung-Yeung - 7
Kept the ball moving in midfield and was more than happy to get physical with the Burnley stars.
Mo Diame - 8
Did well in the lead to the first goal and was constantly putting himself about the pitch.
Kenedy - 5
Played in a more central role but looked a bit lost in there.
Matt Ritchie - 7
Was excellent in the first-half and attacked well in the second too. Ritchie, despite his good game, missed one of the easiest chances of all time, thankfully it didn’t cost his team.
Ayoze Perez - 7
Put in a really good shift and would have had an amazing assist if Joselu finished better after he was put in by the Spaniard.
Salomon Rondon - 6
Salomon Rondon was more than willing to work hard for the team. Hardly had a sniff at goal.
