Salomon Rondon could be the key to helping Newcastle United escape from the relegation battle this season, and it’s not only because of his goals.
As reported on the Chronicle Live, the forward’s work-rate has been impressive since moving on loan to the Magpies from Championship club West Bromwich Albion.

Rondon is considered as the ultimate team player and this is proved in his willingness to track back and also help when defending set pieces.
Benitez wants his players to give everything for the team and Rondon certainly does that. In the 2-1 victory over Bournemouth at St James’ Park, Rondon ran 11.2km, which was only behind Ayoze Perez and Ki Sung-yueng.
He also made 11 sprints in the match and was a handful for the Cherries’ defence.
Rondon aerial presence was also key to helping Newcastle win the three points. The forward won eight aerial duels, which was the most of any player in the match.
If Rondon can keep working hard and scoring goals, then Newcastle will have a great chance of surviving the drop.
