Newcastle could allow both Ciaran Clark and Rob Elliot to leave in January, according to the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas.
Defender Clark could be sold in January if Florian Lejeune returns from injury in time, whilst Elliot could be loaned out in order to get regular first-team football.
Here’s what Douglas had to say when asked about January outgoings.
If Florian Lejeune returns in time, Newcastle would listen to offers for Ciaran Clark while either Rob Elliot or Freddie Woodman may also make a loan move with Newcastle over-loaded with goalkeepers and centre-backs.
Lejeune is nearing full fitness and when he’s back ready to play, he’s likely to go leapfrog Clark in the pecking order of the club’s defenders, so it makes sense for him to be sold in order to create more revenue for Rafa Benitez to spend.
Meanwhile, with Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow in the squad, Newcastle have the cover to allow a goalkeeper to leave on loan in order to get regular football.
