Newcastle United will be forced to splash the cash if they are to sign Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United in January, according to reports.
The Magpies are among a whole host of clubs who have been linked with moves for Almiron in the winter transfer window, with the playmaker continuing to shine in the MLS.
Newcastle are understood to have expressed an interest in recruiting the Paraguay international in the New Year but according to claims from Chronicle Live, they will need to break their transfer record to complete a deal.

It’s reported that Atlanta are unlikely to welcome offers worth anything under £25 million for their star man as they look to fend off interest from clubs across Europe.
This valuation is likely to prove problematic for Newcastle, whose most expensive signing under Mike Ashley’s stewardship was Aleksandar Mitrovic, who joined the club from Anderlecht for £16 million.
Almiron’s agent Daniel Campos watched Newcastle’s most recent Premier League outing and witnessed Rafa Benitez’s men defeat Bournemouth 2-1.
