Newcastle has failed to register a win in their opening ten games. Having suffered seven losses and three draws in that period the results have been nothing short of atrocious, definitely not something the loyal fans deserve. Who’s to blame for this chaos the board, the manager, the players?
Everybody at the club share the blame, the board mostly. They have not backed the manager in the summer transfer window. Their major mistake was signing Championship players consistently over the years. As a result Newcastle has become just a decent team that is struggling to keep pace with the Premier League. But as Ayoze Perez puts it Newcastle need to stick together in these perilous times.
The weekend clash with Watford could not have come at a worse time. They have made their best start in 35 years, also achieving an impressive feat in beating Spurs along the way. They have won six, drawn, one and lost three in 10 matches. As a result they are the bookmakers’ favourite to win against Newcastle.
The Magpie’s form has hugely affected the betting odds for the weekend. Watford are the bookies’ favourites 7/4. They are being mooted to even score first at 21/20. But Championship football is a great alternative for Newcastle fans looking to place a wager. They are familiar with Championship, Newcastle having played there the season before. Moreover fantastic offers are being given to encourage betting on Championship football. Newcastle’s fortunes may overturn but until then punters can Bet on England’s 2nd football league and make use of the lucrative bets on offer.
Attacking talent needs to be brought in
On a closer look at the table it is evident where the problem lies for this team. Newcastle have scored only 6 goals in 10 games whereas have conceded 14 only one more than Arsenal. This shows that Benitez has been successful in getting the best out of his team defensively. He is a pragmatic coach after all, you can always be sure of his teams’ defensive credibility.
It is in the attack where the problem lies. It is there for everybody to see. There has been no real link between the attack and the midfield. We have a solid midfield right now which fails to do much in the attacking sense. Captain Jamal Lascelles has signed a new contract which means defensive addition is also not a top priority. A creative spark in the middle of the park is the need of the hour.
Players they could sign
Newcastle needs a type of player who is well adept at playing through the middle and behind the striker, a No.10 if you like. Who can link up the midfield with attack and create chances for forward players. In addition the player also has to have experience of playing in the top flight.
Keeping that in mind Atlanta’s Alejandro Gomes could be just the man for the magpies. The 30 yr old has managed a decent return with three goals and two assists so far this season in the Serie A. His technique is immense; he is dangerous at set-pieces and has an eye for key passes, making him an ideal signing for a quick impact.
