Florian Lejeune is edging ever closer to a return to action, according to Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez.
As reported by Chronicle Live, Benitez explains that the French defender is getting closer to full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Florian Lejeune is getting closer and took part in the warm up with the team.
A knee injury meant that Lejeune has not kicked a ball in the Premier League this season.
The defender has since returned to light training and is expected to return either late this year or early 2019.
Focusing mainly on his fitness and ball work, Lejeune is yet to take part in full contact training.

Lejeune’s absence has resulted in a defensive headache for Benitez this season, with the French defender one of the Magpies’ key players during the last campaign.
The former Eibar man has been showcasing his return to training on social media but has been seen to be heavily strapped around the knee area, however, his long-awaited return will come as a huge boost to Benitez and Newcastle.
