Arsenal are preparing a bid for Nicolas Tagliafico.
A report from the Shields Gazette claims the Gunners are set to make a run at the man Newcastle wanted in the summer, with Rafael Benitez allegedly unable to meet Ajax’s £8 million asking price.
The defender only joined the Dutch giants in January, but instantly impressed from the left-back position.

Eager to sign a left full-back to provide competition and cover for Paul Dummett, Benitez ultimately came up short in his pursuit of the Argentine international.
The 26-year-old was a part of Argentina’s World Cup squad, and made four appearances for his national team in Russia.
Arsenal are currently facing troubles of their own at the left-back position, with injuries to Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac meaning midfielder Granit Xhaka has been filling in at the spot in recent matches.
Newcastle could revive their interest in Tagliafico should the sufficient funds be made available.
