Newcastle scouts travelled to Belgium to watch Club Brugge against Monaco this week and it appears that forward Wesley Moraes was in their sights.
Local reports from Belgium, as cited on Sport Witness, hint that it was indeed the Brazilian forward who they were watching, with the Magpies desperate to strengthen in the final third during the January window.
It would have been a fruitful trip for Newcastle given that Moraes did find the back of the net during the 1-1 draw.

The bad news for Newcastle is that a host of other clubs, including Premier League rivals, were present to see the player in action.
Chelsea and Tottenham added to the Premier League contingent in Belgium, while Inter and Bayern Munich scouts also watched over his performance against Monaco.
It was widely reported earlier this week that the Newcastle scouts would be in attendance, but they now face a fight to try and land the player in either January or the summer.
