Newcastle are not interested in a deal to hire Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, following claims that they could have to pay up to £9 million for his services.
According to a report from Chronicle Live, the huge asking price that would be placed on Rodgers’ shoulders is being deemed too much for the Magpies.
Rodgers had been linked with the Newcastle job as the pressure mounts on Rafa Benitez, who is facing the sack after a poor start to the season.
The Magpies sit bottom of the Premier League table with no wins from their first nine games.

Leicester City have also been linked with Rodgers, as uncertainty remains over Claude Puel’s long-term future at the club.
Puel has struggled to earn too many admirers since taking over at the King Power and there are suggestions he could be replaced.
Rodgers has attracted a wealth of interest from teams in England, with Aston Villa also linked before they hired Dean Smith as Steve Bruce’s replacement.
