Former Newcastle target Boakye talks up England move

Red Star Belgrade striker and one-time Newcastle target Richmond Boakye has dropped a major hint that he will be on his way to England in the new year.

The Red Star Belgrade striker has long been linked with a move to England and he now believes that he is about to get his chance.

Speaking to Sportsworldghana.com, Boakye dropped a major hint that a transfer was imminent.

I think is the dream of most of the players to play in England but I think this season my move to England is going to happen, I’m not going to give details but it will surely happen before January.

In two – three months it will happen, it’s not that I am going to hope for, it will happen.

I don’t think a club will sell a player and buy him back in six months if there isn’t something in the pipe line. But we are both going to work together and I will give my best for it to happen and like I said latest January it has to happen.

Newcastle have reportedly been keeping a close eye on the player in the past, but he opted to join Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.

However, after a disappointing spell in China, Boayke returned to Europe and re-joined the Serbian outfit.

Boakye was linked with a move to Chelsea when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club, but it is unlikely that the Blues will reignite their interest in the player this time around.

There is believed to be interest from Germany, Turkey, Italy and Spain, with the player likely to be on the move in January.
