Blackburn keeping close eye on Newcastle youth prospect Wilson

Newcastle winger Adam Wilson is being watched closely by Blackburn Rovers, according to the Chronicle.

The speedy forward was a part of the U23 side that defeated Sunderland 5-0 earlier this season, and has caught the eye of Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray.

Making seven reserve team appearances so far this season, Wilson has scored one goal and provided two assists for his teammate.

Despite not having featured yet for Newcastle’s senior side, Mowbray has still reason enough to monitor Wilson.

Blackburn have had a mixed start to the Championship season, and currently sit 10th in the table after 12 matches. The addition of Wilson would add youthfulness to an aged Blackburn attack, as well as a great deal of speed to the perimeter of any forward line.

Newcastle may find use for Wilson themselves in time, however. A tricky start to the season continued at Manchester United on Saturday as the Magpies threw away a two goal lead away from home, meaning Rafael Benitez’s side are still searching for their first win of the campaign.
