Newcastle missed out on the chance to sign Leicester City and England star Harry Maguire because scouts did not think he was good enough.
The Daily Mail reports that Maguire was a player that the club were hoping to sign way back when he was leaving Hull City.
Club officials had reportedly shortlisted the defender as a possible target, but scouts deemed that he was not enough to play for Newcastle.

Leicester City were quick to snap him up for a reported £17 million when Hull were relegated, with Maguire impressing during his time at the club.
Maguire, who scored against Newcastle on Saturday, has since gone on to emerge as a key figure for the Foxes and England, starring at the World Cup in Russia.
Newcastle’s defeat to Leicester on Saturday was another disappointing blow to the Magpies’ slow start, but also a stark reminder of the player that they missed out on.
