Newcastle are a bit of a mess at the moment.
The club look like they need a spark of life, but with the transfer window closed, they can’t go and spend big money to bring anyone in.
However, they could check out the free agent market to see if there are any players who could join the squad to give a bit of a boost.
We’ve picked out a few free agents who we think Rafa Benitez should take a look at:
Bakary Sako is apparently close to joining West Brom after he became a free agent when he left Crystal Palace. The winger has a decent track record and would be a nice addition for the Magpies.
I know, I know, but bare with me! Sunderland recently released Didier Ndong after he went AWOL following their relegation to League 1. Now, that’s a huge red flag but if Rafa could get him focused, he’d be a useful addition. The only issue is that Sunderland have already stated that they “have the right to pursue the player and any club he may subsequently join in relation to compensation for the value of the player.”.
There’s been a lot of talk recently about Newcastle needing a Plan B. Well, what better player to build a Plan B around than a 6 ft 8″ striker?
Newcastle have struggled to break teams down at stages this season and they could help solve that problem by signing free-agent midfielder Miguel Veloso.
Another player sacked by Sunderland. It wasn’t too long ago when Chelsea paid a decent fee to get Papy Djilobodji so he’s clearly talented when his head is right.
