Former Newcastle United youngster Paul Woolston could be set for a shock move to Manchester United.
The Manchester Evening News report that the player has been offered a trial with the Premier League giants after leaving the club recently.
United have been looking to strengthen in that position at youth level. Dean Henderson, Joel Pereira and Kieran O’Hara all left the club on loan earlier this summer, leaving Jose Mourinho’s men short in this position.
Woolston was released by Newcastle, with some having concerns that the player was not quite tall enough to make the grade at St James’ Park.
United are keen to complete a deal to sign Woolston, but with first-team football highly unlikely at Old Trafford, he could move abroad.
The player is said to be interested in the idea of playing abroad in an attempt to kick-start his career on a senior level.
