# Florian Lejeune posts positive injury update

Florian Lejeune could feature for Newcastle before the end of the year, as he continues to work his way back from a lengthy knee injury.

[The Daily Star reports](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/730596/Newcastle-news-Florian-Lejeune-Injury-update) that Lejeune was expected to miss all, if not most of the Premier League campaign through injury.

There were serious concerns over the amount of football he would be able to play after he ruptured his cruciate ligaments during pre-season training earlier this year.

However, the player is back running and has been seen using a treadmill as part of his recovery.

The update comes at a far earlier stage than expected and he could now be back in action before 2019.

Ciaran Clark has been partnering Jamaal Lascelles at the back in his absence, but Lejeune’s return would provide manager Rafa Benitez with a huge injury boost ahead of another long season for the Magpies.
