Christian Atsu’s Newcastle performances slammed by club legend
Christian Atsu has seen his performances for the club slammed by Newcastle icon Malcolm Macdonald.
As reported by Football Ghana, Atsu came in for criticism from Macdonald, who doesn’t believe the player is utilising his best asset.
Macdonald, who knows a thing or two about finding the back of the net, believes that Atsu should be doing more in the final third for Rafa Benitez’s side.
Atsu simply doesn’t know how to use his greatest asset, his pace. When you can run as quickly as him you should automatically knock any pass you receive 10 yards beyond the nearest defender and go. It then comes down to the player either fouling you or taking you on in a foot race he will almost certainly lose.
Atsu has been in and out of the Newcastle squad following their promotion back to the Premier League.
He played a key role in their promotion from the Championship but has been unable to nail down a starting place in the top flight.
The former Chelsea winger is yet to start for Newcastle this season but has made two substitute appearances for the Magpies.
