Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has ruled out the possibility of selling any of his first-team squad during the remainder of the summer transfer window, Sky Sports report.

While the transfer window for Premier League clubs to do their business shut on August 9th, most European leagues can continue to bring in players until the end of the month.

Benitez brought in a number of summer signings himself, including West Brom forward Salomon Rondon, and is looking for another top half finish with the majority of the squad he had last season.

Defender Ciaran Clark and midfielder Isaac Hayden have both been strongly linked with a move down to the Championship with Aston Villa, however, boss Benitez has ruled out any of his first-team squad leaving before the end of the month.

We will not allow anyone who is already in the team or part of the squad to go.

We have some young players who maybe need time on the pitch but that is it.

The Spaniard takes his Newcastle side to Cardiff City this weekend still looking for their first points of the campaign after suffering an opening day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
