Yedlin unlikely to be sidelined for an extended period

Newcastle United have confirmed that DeAndre Yedlin will not face an extended period on the sidelines after he hobbled off in the club’s opening day clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Concerns were raised following the encounter after Yedlin appeared to damage his knee during Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat to Spurs.

However, the club have since allayed any fears that Yedlin will miss a prolonged spell of action, indicating that he will return to full training with the rest of the first-team squad in the not so distant future.

Yedlin remains a key player for Rafa Benitez, with the USA international set to enjoy yet another season of regular game-time on the right-hand side of the Newcastle starting line-up.

Nevertheless, the defender will hope to shake off the knock to his knee in swift fashion as Newcastle look to get off to a good start in the Premier League this season.
