Newcastle United left-back Achraf Lazaar is a transfer target for Serie A side Genoa, HITC reports.
The deadline for any transfers in Serie A is August 31st, with Genoa having identified Lazaar as one of their prime targets before the window shuts.
The Moroccan international has played just 578 minutes of football for Newcastle since his £2.9m from Palermo in 2016.
Lazaar spent last season on loan at Benevento where he also found minutes hard to come by. The defender made just nine appearances for the Italian side as they suffered relegation from Serie A.
Genoa are desperate to sign a left-back this summer as they look to replace AC Milan bound Diego Laxalt, and with Lazaar not featuring in Rafa Benitez’s plans at Newcastle they have firmly turned their attention to him.
Lazaar still has three years left on his contract with the Magpies and it is not yet clear if a move to Genoa will be a loan move or a permanent transfer.
