# Newcastle Player Ratings: Tottenham (H)

Newcastle failed to beat Tottenham on the opening day of the Premier League for the second successive season, with Spurs running out as 2-1 winners at St James’ Park.

Jan Vertonghen opened the scoring for the away side inside ten minutes, but Spurs didn’t hold the lead for long, with Joselu soon equalising with a Matt Ritchie assisted header.

Dele Alli regained Tottenham their lead seven minutes later, and with Kenedy and Salomón Rondón going close, the Magpies couldn’t find their way back into the game.

Here is how we rated the performances of the Newcastle players in this fixture.
