Newcastle United will not rival Southampton and Everton in the race to sign Danny Welbeck from Arsenal.
According to the BBC, as cited on Inside Futbol, reports linking Welbeck with a move to St James’ Park are wide of the mark, with the Magpies denying any interest.
The Arsenal striker is expected to leave the Gunners this summer after falling out of favour in recent months.
Welbeck is said to be aware that game time will be limited under Unai Emery going forward.
Southampton and Bournemouth have been linked with late loan moves for the forward, who was part of the England squad in Russia at this summer’s World Cup.
There is also believed to be European interest in the forward, with Turkish giants Besiktas linked with a move for the player.
Offloading Welbeck would also help the Gunners trim their wage bill, with Welbeck one of the bigger earners at the club, on a reported £115,000 a week.
