# Newcastle reportedly keen on Gibbs but could be priced out of a move

Newcastle United reportedly hold an interest in West Brom defender Kieran Gibbs but could be priced out of a move for the player.

According to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6018279/Transfer-news-LIVE-Yerry-Mina-wanted-Manchester-United.html), the Magpies are on the lookout for a new left-back this summer as they look to provide Paul Dummett with viable competition for a starting spot.

Newcastle are believed to be in active negotiations with PSG as they look to tie up a deal for Stanley N’Soki. However, if this deal is not achievable, it seems Gibbs is regarded as a potential alternative, albeit a pricier one.

The defender was one of West Brom’s more impressive players in what was a difficult season for the club following his move from Arsenal last summer.

Newcastle had been [linked](https://readnewcastle.com/2017/06/04/newcastle-ready-to-meet-15m-valuation-of-england-international/) with a move for Gibbs, but the Baggies beat Rafa Benitez’s side to the England international’s signature

Nevertheless, it seems the Magpies would consider rivalling Serie A outfit Torino for Gibbs’ signature, should West Brom’s valuation comply with Newcastle’s remaining available funds.
