Newcastle United could be forced to pay £25 million for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, according to a report from the Mirror.
Following the Baggies’ relegation down to the Championship last term, Rondon’s release clause in his deal at the Hawthorns became active, with the price believed to be set at a figure of £16 million.
This appeared to pique the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, with Newcastle understood to have been in negotiations with West Brom as they pursued a deal for the Venezuelan attacker.

However, it seems they have taken too long in trying to drive a hard bargain over a deal for Rondon, with his release clause having expired.
This means that the Baggies are now in control of Rondon’s valuation and are free to demand in excess of the aforementioned £16m fee should they wish to, with the Mirror claiming that this is the case.
Newcastle may now be forced to look elsewhere for attacking options, with their funds limited this summer.
