Newcastle have had an offer accepted for Swedish forward Isaac Kiese Thelin by Anderlecht.
Belgian outlet HLN reports that the player could be on his way to the Premier League for a fee in the region of €5-€6 million.
Lokomotiv Moscow are also believed to have had an offer for the forward accepted, with Newcastle facing competition to get a deal done.
The imposing striker scored 19 league goals whilst on loan at Waasland-Beveren last season, something that has not gone unnoticed by Rafa Benitez’s men.
The report claims that Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow are leading the race to sign the player, but Newcastle will be hoping that the lure of the Premier League will see them secure a deal.
Thelin had been hoping to get a chance to impress at Anderlecht this season but he is no longer in the manager’s plans in Belgium and is expected to move on.
