# Derby have bid rejected for Joe Bryan

Derby County have had a £3m bid rejected for Newcastle transfer target Joe Bryan.

[According to HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/07/30/bristol-city-reject-derby-countys-3m-bid-for-joe-bryan/), Derby have seen their opening offer of £3m turned down by Bristol City, who are keen to hold on to the defender.

Bryan was one of the best left-backs in the Championship last season and is attracting interest from a number of sides.

Wolves are also thought to be interested in Bryan, although they are yet to firm up their interest with a bid.

Bryan’s contract expires at the end of next season, meaning that clubs could snap him up on a free next summer – or for a cut-price deal in the next few weeks.

Bristol City are trying to tie him down to a new contract, but the lure of Premier League football – in the form of Newcastle – could be too good to turn down for the fullback.
