# Newcastle striker set to return to Fulham with fee agreed

Aleksander Mitrovic is set to return to Fulham on a permanent deal after the Cottagers agreed a fee with Newcastle for the Serbian.

[The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-manchester-arsenal-12975543)report that the striker has left the Newcastle training camp and flown back to the UK to complete his switch to West London, making his loan switch permanent.

Mitrovic was a vital part of the Fulham attack last season, leading the Cottagers to Wembley where they beat Aston Villa 1-0 to return to the Premier League after four years away from the top flight.

The Serbian notched 12 goals in 17 appearances for Fulham, being a key asset in Slavisa Jokanovic’s promotion-winning side.

The move therefore ends Mitrovic’s difficult spell in the North East. The Serbian joined Newcastle in July 2015 for a reported £13 million from Anderlecht. In his first season he scored nine times as the Magpies were relegated from the Premier League.

He would only score four times in Newcastle’s promotion-winning campaign and only made six appearances before joining Fulham on loan last season after a move to Anderlecht failed at the last minute.
