Newcastle are closing in on a double deal to sign Yoshinori Muto and Fabian Schar, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claims that Newcastle will pay an initial £9 million for Muto, who impressed at the World Cup and in the Bundesliga last season.
Schar is due to have a medical at the club on Wednesday, with the Magpies set to activate his £3.5 million release clause at Deportivo La Coruna.

The club also remain in discussions over a deal for Salomon Rondon, with the player expected to join on loan with the option to join permanently next summer.
A deal for Rondon could see Dwight Gayle head in the other direction on loan, with Fulham preparing for life in the Premier League.
It has been well documented that Benitez is working on a limited budget this summer, but he has been keen to add goals to his side as the club prepare to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic.
