Newcastle United are reportedly looking to sign Diego Reyes on a free transfer this summer.
According to claims from Sky Sports this evening, the central defender has emerged as a target for the Magpies as Rafa Benitez looks to add further quality to his options at the back.
Reyes was a part of Mexico’s 23-man squad for the World Cup and has previously made in excess of 50 caps for his national team.

However, heading into the upcoming season, it seems Reyes is out to seek pastures new. His contract with FC Porto expired this summer and a host of clubs have since expressed an interest in signing him.
According to Sky Sports, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have already lodged a proposal for Reyes to consider, as the race for his signature begins to heat up.
However, it seems likely that the 25-year-old will have the option of a move to the Premier League this summer. The report indicates that both Newcastle and West Ham would be keen to recruit Reyes on a free transfer.
