Newcastle linked with move for Liverpool forward
Newcastle have been tipped to make a move for Liverpool forward Divock Origi, according to the Chronicle.
The Belgian fell out of favour at Anfield in the 2016-17 season, and was sent on loan by manager Jürgen Klopp to Wolfsburg for the entire 2017-18 campaign.
Making 34 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, Origi returned a slightly disappointing six goals for his efforts.
Aged just 23 however, the striker has time yet to craft his game into something that belongs at the highest levels of European football.
With Liverpool unlikely to grant the Ostend-native much game time in the upcoming season, Newcastle are reportedly seeking to swoop for the fringe player.
Be that swoop a permanent move or a loan move, the addition of Origi would represent a diversifying of the Magpies’ attacking options. The former Lille product stands to be a more physical presence in the Newcastle lineup than Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez, with Aleksandar Mitrovic expected to make his move to Fulham permanent in the coming weeks.
