Newcastle have reportedly turned down an offer in excess of £25 million from West Ham for defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reports that the Hammers are offering £20 million up front for the defender, in a deal that could rise to £25 million.

He claims that the Magpies are refusing to sell the player this summer, despite his impressive performances last season.

Rafa Benitez’s men were bracing themselves for interest in the player this summer, with Chelsea and Tottenham also keeping tabs on the young defender in the past.

Lascelles played a key role in keeping the Magpies in the Premier League at the first time of asking last season and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

However, Lascelles has not made any push to leave the club this summer and reportedly maintains a very strong relationship with Benitez, which could help Newcastle keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.
