Newcastle deny reports that £18m-rated midfielder is set to join
Despite numerous reports over the last few days, Newcastle have dismissed the possibility of signing Stefano Sturaro, according to the Shields Gazette.
The Juventus player was reportedly closing in on an £18 million move to the club, but Rafa Benitez, according to the Gazette, has rebuffed the player, who is not on his list of targets.
The news comes shortly after Newcastle United signed Ki-Seng Yeung – a central midfielder who left relegated Swansea after another stellar season of performances in the Premier League.
It seems, then, that Rafa Benitez is happy with his midfield of Jonjo Shelvey, Mohamed Diame, Jack Colback and now, the South Korean. Despite Mikel Merino reportedly moving closer to a move to Real Sociedad, Newcastle are passing up the chance to sign the Italian.
Deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus, the club are looking to sell the 25-year-old, who made just 19 appearances last season, eight of them off the bench.
