Newcastle United hope to beat off interest from Tottenham and West Ham with an improved second bid for OGC Nice forward Alassane Plea.
The Northern Echo reports that the Magpies are stepping up their interest in the forward who is attracting a lot of interest this summer.
Rafa Benitez’s men have already failed with an opening bid for the player, with the report claiming that the offer was nowhere near close enough to Nice’s valuation of the player.

Talks are said to have taken place over a new offer as Benitez goes in search of the new striker he has been crying out for.
Plea is expected to leave Nice this summer and Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach are also thought to be keen.
The French forward has attracted a lot of attention after impressing during his time with Nice. He scored 21 times in all competitions last season.
Tottenham see the player as an alternative to Anthony Martial, while West Ham have also reportedly made a move to sign the player in the past.
