Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba has emerged as a summer target for Turkish side Trabzonspor, according to claims from Portugal.
The DR Congo international appeared to be on the verge of a move to Liga NOS giants FC Porto this summer, but fresh claims from Portugal have indicated that the club have new competition for his signature.
Mbemba is set to be surplus to Rafa Benitez’s requirements at St James’ Park, with the 23-year-old understood to be some way down the pecking order in terms of central defenders.

The former Anderlecht defender made only seven starts for the Magpies last season and a departure appears to be nothing more than an inevitability at this stage.
Mbemba, who joined for a reported sum of around £8 million, has been in and out of the team since his arrival at St James’ Park but pastures new await for the player, as the race heats up for his signature.
