Newcastle United are keen to sign Daniel Sturridge this summer, but face competition from Besiktas.
According to Turkish paper Aksam, as cited by Turkish Football, both sides are interested in signing the player, who looks set to leave Liverpool this summer.
The striker has been unable to hold down a place in the Reds’ squad under Jurgen Klopp, who opted to use Dominic Solanke ahead of Sturridge last season.
The 28-year-old has been a transfer target for Newcastle ever since their promotion back to the top flight.
The former England international was heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park during the January transfer window, but he opted to join West Brom on loan at the last minute.
Rafa Benitez is keen to add more goals to his squad next season as they look to build upon their strong first season campaign in the Premier League.
The Magpies struggled to find a regular source of goals last season and the final third is one of the key areas of improvement for Benitez.
