According to a recent report from Italian news outlet, Calciomercato, Newcastle United are readying a fresh bid for Lokomotiv Zagreb star Lovro Majer.
The 20-year-old has been tipped for big things and if reports are to be believed, clubs from all across Europe have been keeping a close eye on his progress in Croatia.
Sampdoria are also noted to be in the race for Majer, but Newcastle are stated to be preparing a bid in an attempt to convince Lokomotiv to offload one of their prized assets this summer.
The Serie A side were reportedly close to securing a deal for Majer, but at the 11th hour, it seems Newcastle are ready and willing to better Sampdoria’s offer worth €8m, along with a cut of 20% in any future sale.
Along with a significant hike in the player’s wages, Newcastle are understood to be prepared to offer Lokomotiv an outright sum of €11.5m, which could be enough to convince the club to sell.
