Newcastle have made an opening offer to sign Stefano Sturaro from Juventus, according to reports from Italy.
The Magpies have long been linked with a move for the midfielder, who is set to leave his current club after being deemed surplus to requirements under Massimiliano Allegri.
Sturaro was used sparingly by the Italian manager throughout the course of last season and it seems a summer move is on the cards, with Newcastle and Leicester understood to have expressed an interest.

It’s claimed by Tuttomercatoweb that Newcastle have drawn first blood in the race to land Sturaro, with a bid worth €13 million reportedly lodged.
Rafa Benitez is working with a restricted transfer budget this summer and will undoubtedly be looking out to recruit intelligently, with Sturaro potentially available in a cut-price deal.
Newcastle have reportedly had Sturaro on their radar for some time now, but whether or not Juventus are willing to part company with their midfielder for such a low fee remains to be seen.
