La Liga side Real Betis are pushing Mikel Merino to make a decision on his Newcastle future, according to reports in Spain.
Football Espana claims that the player is wanted by Betis, but there is also interest from Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao.
The player’s representatives are said to be in discussions with the Spanish sides in a hope of striking a deal swiftly.

Merino fell out of favour during the second half of the season at Newcastle, despite impressing after joining from Borussia Dortmund.
The former Dortmund man was restricted to just 14 league starts in England.
The Spaniard originally joined on loan from the Bundesliga side, but quickly made the deal permanent.
Merino is said to be considering an exit from St James’ Park in a bid to find regular first-team football.
The midfielder has often talked up a move back to Spain after leaving Osasuna in 2016.
