Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is ready to allow Chancel Mbemba leave for Porto after an £8 million bid from the Portuguese giants.
The Mirror report a four-year contract has been agreed between Porto and Mbemba’s representatives, as the DR Congo defender’s time in England draws to a close.
Aged just 23, Mbemba found it difficult to establish himself on Tyneside under Benitez. Making just 11 appearances for the Magpies last season, it became apparent the centre-half might be heading elsewhere for the next campaign.

Whether that would be on loan or on a permanent deal was a matter for discussion however, but it now appears as though Mbemba will leave St James’ Park for good.
Arriving from Anderlecht prior to the 2015-16 season, Mbemba made 33 appearances in Newcastle’s disastrous year, ending with relegation to the Championship.
In the second tier, Mbemba received the nod on just 12 occasions, and after last season’s equally sparse showing, the Congolese star is off to pastures anew.
