# Newcastle told to pay club-record fee for key summer target

Newcastle have been boosted in their hopes of landing Kenedy this summer, but have been told they’ll need to pay a club-record fee for him.

[Chronicle Live](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chelsea-would-prefer-sell-kenedy-14776272) reports that Chelsea are open to selling the Brazilian and would rather do so than loan the player out again.

The Blues reportedly value the winger at £20 million and will look to cash in on him this summer to raise funds for their own transfers.

The Brazilian has been named as a potential transfer target for the Magpies after an impressive stint on loan at St James’ Park.

Kenedy joined the club in January and an inspired run of form helped Rafa Benitez’s men stay in the top flight.

The Brazilian’s form alerted several teams around Europe, with the likes of Arsenal, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich all taking notice of his availability after falling out of favour at Chelsea.

Benitez has often hinted at a permanent move for the player but also admitted that the club could be priced out of a deal.
