Sevilla keen on a deal to land Newcastle star

According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla are interested in signing Newcastle defender, Florian Lejeune.

Lejeune joined The Magpies last summer after their Championship promotion for £10m from Eibar. He impressed towards the end of the season in Newcastle’s survival bid, after being left out of the side for the Christmas period and all of January after a few poor performances.

His end of season form may be the reason why Sevilla are interested in the Frenchman. Also, with Clement Lenglet edging closer to a move from Sevilla to Barcelona, Sevilla are looking for a quick replacement for their star centre-back, and his fellow Frenchman in Lejeune could be their choice.

The Newcastle centre-back was on Manchester City’s books from 2015 to 2016, after signing him from Girona and then loaning him back to the Spanish side, before selling him to Eibar after his loan spell, not making one single appearance for the Manchester outfit in the process.

Newcastle will surely be keen to keep Lejeune after a promising maiden season in English football.

matchday.
