Newcastle United are not in the race to sign Oguzhan Ozyakup from Besiktas this summer, according to a report from the Chronicle.
The Magpies have been linked with a move for the Turkey international for some time now, with scouts having been frequently sent to track the midfielder’s progress.
However, it’s stated that Ozyakup is not a player who Rafa Benitez is looking to land this summer, contrary to reports from Turkey.

It was recently suggested that the Magpies had lodged an official bid in their attempts to land Ozyakup but these claims have since been dispelled by the Chronicle.
The former Arsenal protege’s contract at Besiktas expires this summer but the Super Lig outfit are reportedly looking to renew his deal at the club before fielding offers for his signature. This is thought to be in an attempt to avoid losing such a key player for free.
Newcastle are keen to sign a creative midfield player but if these fresh claims are to be believed, Ozyakup will not be arriving at St James’ Park this summer.
