# Newcastle set to complete Dubravka deal

Newcastle are set to complete the signing of Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal from Sparta Praga this summer.

[According to Calcio Mercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/newcastle-scelto-il-futuro-di-dubravka-68765), Newcastle have opted to activate the buy-out clause in Dubravka’s loan deal and sign him on a permanent basis.

Dubravka joined Newcastle in January on loan from Sparta Praga, after Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow failed to nail down their number one shirt as their own.

The Slovakian international has been a standout since arriving at Newcastle and it comes as no surprise that the club want to keep him long-term.

The report claims that he will cost Newcastle a fee in the region of €4m, a bargain considering the inflated fees thrown around in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old made 12 Premier League appearances in the second-half of the season and looks set to start next campaign as the club’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
