Newcastle plan deal to land Japanese international striker
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Japanese international forward Yoshinori Muto this summer.
According to claims from Calciomercato, as cited in a report from talkSPORT, the Magpies want to bolster their attacking ranks with the addition of Mainz attacker Muto.
Rafa Benitez’s men will go all out to secure a new striker this summer after failing to remedy their goalscoring issues with a forward of high quality in the recent two transfer windows.
Muto has enjoyed a reasonably impressive campaign out in Germany, contributing with a total of 10 goals in all competitions for Mainz.
The 25-year-old is regarded as a player of great importance to the Bundesliga side, however, and this means that Newcastle may face an uphill battle to prise him away from Mainz’s grasp.
Muto, who was once linked with a transfer to West Ham, will be keen to enjoy a good World Cup with his native Japan this summer in Russia.
