Newcastle already closing in on first summer signing

Martin Dubravka will hold talks with Newcastle United about his future at the club, after completing his loan spell from Sparta Prague.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez signed the Slovakian on loan in the January transfer window with the option to make his stay permanent.

Dubravka’s loan spell has included wins over Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal with the player becoming a real fan favourite.

The Slovakian international was in the spotlight yet again after he denied Olivier Giroud and Ross Barkley to keep Chelsea at bay.

Dubravka’s heroics contributed to a 3-0 win against the former Premier League champions and saw his side finish in the top ten, in their first season back in the top flight.

After the win, he told the Chronicle;

Hopefully in the next couple of days we will know more information. Until these moments I will go away and speak with my agent and see, we will discuss what’s going to happen. Hopefully it will be good news soon.

According to the Chronicle, the total price for the 29-year old could end up being around £6million, including his loan fee.

Newcastle have first option on Dubravka and he is almost certain to be the first addition to the squad in what should be a busy summer for the Magpies.

matchday.
