Newcastle striker set for switch to Championship club

As Stoke City look towards preparing for their first season in the Championship since being promoted back in 2008, they look set on putting on a pursuit for Newcastle striker, Dwight Gayle.

According to Stoke on Trent Live, Stoke owners, the Coates family, are ready to make big changes at the club and are expecting nothing less than promotion back to the Premier League on their first try.

Dwight Gayle has proven he has what it takes to be a prolific goal scorer in the Championship, scoring 23 times in 34 appearances for Newcastle when they won the league and gained promotion.

But despite his great season, he has failed to make his mark this year as boss, Rafa Benitez has started him 21 times but has only managed to get himself on the scoresheet five times.

Despite only scoring five times, only Ayoze Perez has more than league goals than him this season.

Stoke have struggled with goal scoring this year, only managing 33 goals in 37 games so far, so will definitely have their eyes on a player like Gayle who definitely knows how to find the back of the net.
