Newcastle United stopper Karl Darlow wants assurances over his playing time before committing to a new contract, according to the Chronicle.
The Magpies are currently in talks with Darlow as they want to extend his current deal, despite the 27-year-old being second choice for the majority of this season.
Rafa Benitez is keen to keep the Englishman in his ranks, as well as sign current number one Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal.
The former Forest man has two years remaining on his current deal and is likely to attract interest from Championship clubs after he helped Newcastle win the league so impressively last season.
Dubravka has been in very good form signing joining in January, and if he is to sign a permanent contract in the North East, it would be difficult for Benitez to give Darlow the assurances he wants.
Furthermore, Rob Elliot is another keeper in the Newcastle ranks fighting for that number one jersey, meaning Darlow cannot even be guaranteed to be second choice next season.
