Newcastle midfielder Mikel Merino is unlikely to feature in Saturday’s game against West Brom after picking up an injury last time out, according to Lee Ryder.

Rafa Benitez will be hoping to see his side return to winning ways after their four-game winning run came to an end on Monday, following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Everton on Merseyside.
No Merino will leave Benitez with fewer options to pick from in the middle to face the Baggies, however, the partnership of Mohamed Diame and Jonjo Shelvey has been successful recently.
The Spaniard started the season impressively, leading the Geordies to believe they had got themselves a real coup.

The 21-year-old has flattered to deceive since, though, and has not enjoyed a strong second half to the campaign.
West Brom travel to St James’ Park knowing they need a win to avoid relegation to the Championship, so it is set to be a difficult game on Tyneside.
A win for the home side will go some way in helping them to secure a top half finish in their first season back in the Premier League.
