Rafa Benitez is not a serious contender for Arsenal job

According to HITC, Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is not a serious contender to takeover at Arsenal when Arsene Wenger leaves.

When the news about Wenger leaving at the end of the season broke on Friday, many started to question who would be the man to replace the Frenchman for the 2018/19 season, but it looks like Benitez will not be joining The Gunners.

Benitez joined Newcastle in March 2016 in an attempt to save the club from relegation after Steve McLaren’s awful reign at The Magpies. The former Liverpool manager couldn’t save the club from the Championship but he managed to get them promoted at the first time of asking.

He has now pretty much saved Newcastle from relegation this season and the Spaniard has become somewhat of a hero for Newcastle fans, so this news of Benitez being unlikely to join Arsenal will be music to a lot of Gerodie’s ears, as the club look to push on in the Premier League next season.
